Wedding Portraits
While wedding portraits are a scripted part of the day, we believe they should still feel authentic and unscripted. They should feel effortless—not stiff and overly posed. That’s why we seek out the best natural light, often aiming for the warm, golden glow just before sunset, when everything feels soft and romantic.

- Jeffery Minnish, Raleigh Wedding Photographer
“Jeffery and his wife did our wedding at Barclay Villa in 2010. All I can say is that he is the BEST. He went out to the site early and walked it to see where he could get the best shots. He stayed longer than we agreed on, and all of the pictures were great. . . . I would highly recommend him for any type of photo shoot.”

Our Approach to Wedding Portraits – Natural, Candid, and True to You
Our approach is simple: we focus on the portraits that matter most to you, not a preset checklist we bring to every wedding. Whether it’s just the two of you, your wedding party, or a few meaningful family groupings, we keep things relaxed and let your personalities shine. In between, we slip back into a documentary rhythm, capturing those in-between glances, laughter, and quiet moments that happen naturally.
FAQs: Wedding Portraits
Q: When is the best time for wedding portraits?
A: Golden hour—the hour before sunset—gives soft, flattering light and a romantic glow. If possible, it is best to plan your ceremony with time for you to catch that magic for your portraits.
Q: Do you have a standard portrait list you use for every couple?
A: Nope. We only take the group portraits you actually want. You tell us what matters, and we’ll focus on those without adding unnecessary poses.
Q: What’s your approach to portraits?
A: Relaxed and natural. We’ll guide you when needed, but we lean into our documentary style so you look and feel like yourselves.
Q: How long will portraits take?
A: We keep them short and sweet so you can get back to your guests and your celebration.
Q: Can we do all portraits before the ceremony?
A: It’s your day, so if you choose to do a first look, yes! We can capture couple, wedding party, and family portraits beforehand so you can head straight to your reception after the ceremony.
Q: Will you still capture candid moments during portrait time?
A: Absolutely. In between the posed shots, we’re watching for the real, unscripted interactions—laughter, glances, and little moments you might not even notice happening.
Q: Should I have someone assigned to help with portraits?
A: Absolutely. If possible, it would be great to have a member of your wedding party or another designated person to help gather the family and friends you want for each portrait. This will help make the process more efficient.
